چکیده
Abstract. Drought affects many regions worldwide, and future climate projections imply that drought severity frequency will increase. Hence, the impacts of on environment society also increase considerably. Monitoring early warning systems for rely several indicators; however, assessments how these indicators are linked to still lacking. Here, we explore links between different within six sub-regions in Spain. We used impact data from European Impact Report Inventory database provide a new case study evaluate links. evidence region with small sample size can useful insights regarding indicator–impact As meteorological indicators, use Standardised Precipitation Index Evapotranspiration Index; as agricultural hydrological Soil Water Content Streamflow Reservoir Storage Index. teleconnection patterns surface temperature by conducting correlation analysis, then test predictability using random forest model. Our results show indices best occurrences overall at long timescales 15 33 months. However, find robust indices, depending sub-region. The Arctic Oscillation, Western Mediterranean North Atlantic Oscillation accumulation periods (15 48 months) top predictors northwestern northeastern regions, community Madrid, southern Spain, respectively. impacts. model produces skilful models most sub-regions. When assessed cross-validation all precision, recall, or R2 values higher than 0.97, 0.62, 0.68, Thus, our predicting could potentially be part an system.

Spatiotemporal Characteristics of Groundwater Drought and Its Response to Meteorological Drought in Jiangsu Province, China
In this study, the temporal and spatial variations of groundwater drought using a Standardized Groundwater Level Index (SGI) were analyzed based on 40 monthly groundwater level observation wells from 1989 to 2012 in Jiangsu Province, China. Meteorological drought, calculated by the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), was also included to reveal its propagation and impact on the groundwater ...

The ongoing debate on water policies in Spain is characterised by a traditional paradigm, dominated by the intervention on hydrological systems through the construction and management of infrastructure, which is progressively being abandoned but is currently still strong while the emergence of new management approaches. Climate change and the Water Framework Directive (WFD) are, in addition, th...
متن کاملMonitoring Meteorological Drought in Iran Using Remote Sensing and Drought Indices
Drought is a major environmental disaster in many parts of the world. Knowledge about the timing, severity and extentof drought can aid planning and decision-making. Drought indices derived from in-situ meteorological data have coarsespatial and temporal resolutions, thus, obtaining a real-time drought condition over a large area is difficult. This studyused advanced very high resolution radiom...
متن کاملThe effect of meteorological drought on vegetation dynamics in Iran
Drought as a complex ecosystem crisis can affect vegetation density and health. Iran with an arid and semi-arid climate is exposed to this phenomenon. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the effect of drought on vegetation. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of meteorological drought on vegetation dynamics in Iran. In this regard, using MATLAB software, SPEI index with time ...

Drought as a natural phenomenon characterized by a significant decrease of water availability during a period of time and over a large area. In recent years, droughts and its frequent in arid and semi-arid regions like Iran on the one hand, and water demand has been rising on the other hand and, as a result, their impacts are being aggravated. Therefore, the meteorological and hydrological...
